Fourth New Log Cabin in Pioneer Circle
Hiram House hosted a Grand Opening on July 19, 2013 to unveil its newest Log Cabin in the heart of the scenic 172-acre youth camp.
This is the fourth new year-round Log Cabin to be built in recent years as part of the camp's multi-million dollar Capital Improvement Campaign and Master Plan .
Major funding to build and outfit the Log Cabin was donated by generous grants from The Abington Foundation, The Eva L. & Joseph M. Bruening Foundation, The Louise H. & David S. Ingalls Foundation, and The John B. Hollister, Jr. Fund. Camp officials expressed their deepest gratitude to them on behalf of all the children served by Hiram House.
The all-weather, 4,300 sq.ft. rustic Log Cabin will be used by Summer Campers, School Campers and Group Retreats.
Plaque presented to Hollister Family
Hiram House officials presented a plaque, which will hang inside the new Log Cabin, to members of the Hollister Family in memory of long-time Board Trustee and supporter John B. “Jack” Hollister, Jr., who passed away in 2012.
The interior of the new Log Cabin was outfitted thanks to generous donations, by hundreds of individuals, groups and organizations, to a special memorial fund established in his name.
The plaque is inscribed: “In Memory of John B. “Jack” Hollister, Jr. - For his many years of service and dedication to Hiram House, he will always be remembered.”
Pictured in group photo, (above, from right to left), are: Hiram House Board of Trustees President Kevin Barnes, Jack’s son David Hollister (holding plaque), Jack’s wife Betty Hollister, daughter-in-law Dana Hollister, and Hiram House Executive Director Russell Grundke.

LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Highlights of a Great Year!
New Additions & Attractions, Action-packed Season, Round-out Another Great Year at Camp!
by Russell R. Grundke, Executive Director
Several new camp facilities were added to Hiram House this year.
We celebrated the grand opening of our eagerly awaited 4th new Log Cabin with donors and supporters at camp this summer.
Also enhancing the camp’s many attractions and activities was a new 35-ft. high section for our Alpine Climbing Wall. Both these new additions will be enjoyed by campers, schools and groups who visit Hiram House each year.
Our 42nd annual Pumpkin Festival this fall was a smashing success offering a good time for families of all ages and helped raise funds for camperships for the summer season.
“Chili Night Out” was a hit this year and will be back this winter for everyone to enjoy once again.
Our most sincere thanks to all our generous donors, selfless volunteers, supporters, trustees and dedicated staff. Without your efforts none of these things would be possible.
Summer, fall and winter at camp were full of campers having fun while expanding their horizons and challenging themselves with new adventures.
Stay tuned, much more is ahead for 2014.
Best Wishes of the Season to You & Yours!
