Hiram House Camp’s Counselor-in-Training Program offers qualified young individuals aged 13–16 an exceptional opportunity to prepare for future roles as camp counselors or recreation leaders. Our curriculum focuses on developing high-level leadership skills, understanding small group dynamics, and fostering teamwork.

As a CIT, you will actively contribute to organizing activities for campers while assisting our Day Camp counselors in their daily responsibilities. Participants gain real-world job training, earn volunteer hours for school, and receive a formal evaluation and letter of participation at the end of the summer.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

We believe leadership development should be accessible to everyone. Just like our general campership program, financial assistance is available for CIT applicants who might otherwise be unable to attend. Hiram House proudly offers scholarships to youth from low-income households, those in foster or kinship care, and participants involved with social service agencies. If you believe your family may qualify or have questions regarding assistance, please contact our office at (216) 831-5045.

Field Guide Notes: Mandatory training takes place June 5th or 6th, 2026. Please note that CITs focus on daytime leadership training and do not participate in Thursday night Day Camp overnights.
