The Hiram House Camp (HHC) Staff is recruited from colleges and universities throughout the country and abroad, representing nearly 40 institutes over the years. Overnight Camp staff must have completed their first year of college, while Summer Day Camp and Junior Day Camp staff must have graduated from high school.
Summer Camp Job Opportunities
An accredited member of the American Camp Association, The Hiram House is a private non-profit facility located 15 miles southeast of downtown Cleveland on 172 acres of beautiful woodland.
Overnight Camp
The core mission since 1896, serving children ages 7-14 from across Northeast Ohio. Camp sessions are six days long. Staff live in log cabins with campers, providing close supervision and guidance throughout their stay. All meals and snacks are provided; staff abide by a curfew.
Day Camp
Serving children ages 6-12, this program runs Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Campers enjoy outdoor recreation and lifelong skill-building. Each session includes a pre-scheduled overnight stay to experience rustic outdoor living.
Junior Day Camp
Our youngest summer program for children ages 5-6. This is a closely supervised program in a safe, secure environment designed to introduce young explorers to the joys of camping. Runs Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m..
Available Staff Positions
Day/Jr. Camp Director: Assists the Program Director in all phases of the Summer Camp Program (set-up, pre-camp/staff training, summer programs and post camp).
Assistant Day Camp Director: Assists the Day Camp Director in all phases of the Summer Day Camp and Junior Day Camp Programs (set-up, pre-camp/staff training, summer programs and post-camp).
💰 Weekly Pay: Day/Jr. Director $600 | Asst. Director $560
Overnight Camp Counselors: Responsible for the safety and well being of a group of campers as well as directly supervise a camper group, encourage campers to participate in all activities, and guide the camper throughout their stay at camp.

💰 Weekly Pay: Overnight $560 | Day/Jr. $460
Responsible for all phases of the Summer Overnight Camp Programs (set-up, pre-camp/staff training, summer programs and post-camp).
💰 Weekly Pay: $640
Aids and supervises counselors in girl’s unit and responsible for all programming activities within the unit. Responsible for scheduling nights out, rest duty, night duty, and break schedules for assigned staff. Assists with program administration.
💰 Weekly Pay: $580
Manages all aspects of the COPE Course (High Ropes, Low Ropes and Climbing Wall). Leads both physical and mental team challenge activities to improve communication, increases group continuity and boost individuals self esteem. Supports and spots campers and ensures their safety while completing the challenge. Leads proper discussions as well as debrief each activity. Must attend Ropes Course training prior to the camp season.
💰 Weekly Pay: $460 – $520
Conducts instructional sessions with campers emphasizing animal lore, environmental concepts, nature appreciation and outdoor skills including orienteering, fire building and shelters.

Promotes both archery and hatchet throwing as a challenging sport while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Organizes and teaches campers in classes using the guidelines presented by the Program Director.

Promotes music, drama and dance throughout the summer during activity periods.

Manages lifeguard staff and oversees all bodies of water. Ensures all staff complies with water safety and leads with example. Works directly with facilities manager to keep pool house in shape and tracks inventory. Must have or is willing to receive First Aid and CPR certifications.

Promotes fun at the pool while maintaining the highest safety standards. Must have or is willing to receive First Aid and CPR certifications.
💰 Weekly Pay: $600
💰 Hourly Pay: $22.50/hr
Communicates directly with camper’s parents. Ensures all paperwork is turned into the office upon camper’s arrival to camp. Works directly with Program Director and Business Manager. Considerably comfortable with answering and making phone calls as well as sending emails. Assists weekly in the Camp Store.
💰 Weekly Pay: $400
Reports to Facilities Manager to perform daily tasks to take care of camp.

Overnight Camp: June 14th – July 24th (6 weeks)
Day & Jr. Day Camp: June 8th – August 7th (9 weeks)
