Mission and Values
At Hiram House Camp, our mission extends beyond providing a fun summer experience. We are dedicated to fostering personal growth, confidence, independence, leadership, and inclusivity in every camper. Through our programs and environment, we aim to create lasting impacts that resonate long after the summer ends.
Our Mission
Hiram House Camp’s core mission is to nurture personal growth, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility in our campers. We provide a supportive and nurturing community where children can explore, learn, and grow. Our programs are designed to challenge campers, encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones and discover their potential.
Our Values
- Inclusivity: We strive to create an inclusive environment where all campers feel valued and respected. Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion ensures that everyone has equal opportunities to participate and thrive. Learn more about our initiatives on our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion page.
- Personal Growth: At Hiram House Camp, we believe in the power of personal growth. Our activities are designed to build self-esteem and confidence, helping campers to develop a positive self-image and a can-do attitude. Discover more about our approach on the About Us page.
- Community: We foster a strong sense of community, encouraging campers to build meaningful relationships based on mutual respect and understanding. The friendships formed at camp often last a lifetime, providing a support network that extends beyond the summer.
Camper Experience
Our camp environment is carefully crafted to help campers develop a wide range of life skills. From building self-esteem through challenging activities to nurturing leadership skills in team settings,
Hiram House Camp offers a holistic approach to youth development.
- Building Self-Esteem: Campers are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and try new activities. This supportive atmosphere helps them build confidence as they achieve new skills and overcome challenges. For more insights, read about our programs on the Summer Camps page.
- Developing Peer Relationships: Camp provides an excellent opportunity for children to form lasting friendships. These friendships are rooted in shared experiences and mutual respect, teaching children the value of empathy and understanding.
- Encouraging Independence: For many children, camp is their first experience living away from home. This independence is a crucial part of personal growth, as campers learn to manage their daily routines, make decisions, and take responsibility for their actions. New to our camp? Check out our First-Time Camper guide for more details.
- Nurturing Leadership Skills: Leadership is a key component of the summer camp experience. Our campers have numerous opportunities to take on leadership roles, whether it’s leading a team in a game, organizing a group activity, or mentoring younger campers. These experiences help children develop important skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork.
